palladium megaverse combat-cleanup

this page is under strong construction

here are my combat-house-rules:

important: the main advantage of the palladium combat-system is that it is quick and simple. keep it so, if any of the modification slows your gameplay, then dont use it.

1. number of actions
2. hand to hand
3. modern weapon combat
4. robot and power armor combat (comming soon)
5. combat modifiers (comming soon)

1. number of actions

normaly the number of attacks, no matter what kind of attacks, shooting a gun, casting a spell, wielding a sword or using a psi-power comes from the number of attacks of the characters hand to hand skill. but if the character has no hand to hand skill, even he is a expirienced gun-fighter or mind mage, he still has only one attack in the 15th level???

general number of actions per round 2 at level one, +1 action at level 3, 7, 10 and 13

exept for hand to hand combat the number can be modified depending on the occ. for example a magic user may get additional attacks when casting magic spells or a gunman get additional attacks when shooting a modern weapon.

2. hand to hand and ancient weapon combat

nearly unchanged - i prefer the hand to hand and martial arts from ninjas and superspies, mystic china and rifter 3 & 6 and my own ones. when in hand to hand combat use the number of attacks of the martial art form, if the character has no hand to hand training or a martial art form the number of attacks are equal to the general number of actions per round.
important: donīt mix the weapon profencies with the hand to hand bonuses, exept with weapon-katas.

martial arts in rifts:
i always was wondering, why there are only the four basic hand-to-hands in rifts (the time befor "coalition war champain"). with some modifications some of the n&s martial arts add a lot of spice to the occ of rifts... ...a cyberknight with kendo or a atlantean-assassin with a mixture from hand-to-hand assasine and ninjitsu.

new hand to hands an martial arts

3. modern weapon combat

number of attacks:
the number of attacks with modern weapons are equal to the genaral number of actions per round. some o.c.c.īs may get additional attacks with modern weapons, if it fits to the o.c.c. (assasins, gunslinger, sharpshooters e.t.c.).

bonuses to strike:

aimed
+3 to strike
+4 with single action weapons

twotap
first strike - normal aimed strike bonus, second strike - half (round down) aimed strike bonus counts as one attack

burst

- short
+1 to strike, 3 rounds, damage x2, counts as one attack
- medium
+1 to strike, 7 rounds, damage x5, counts as two attacks
- long
+1 to strike, 11 rounds, damage x7, uses up all attacks

spray

- medium
+1 to strike, 7 rounds, max. 5 targets, counts as two attacks
- long
+1 to strike, 11 rounds, max. 7 targets, uses up all attacks

new skills

paired weapons modern
this skill allows the use of two modern weapons simultaneously. the skill must be taken seperatly for every combination of modern weapon.

bonuses and maluses for firing two modern waepons:

firing with both weapons on the same target:
with wps and paired weapon modern: normal
with wps but without paired weapon modern: -3
without wps and without paired weapon modern: -6

firing on two different targets:
with wps and paired weapon modern: primary hand normal - off hand wild -3
with wps but without paired weapon modern: primary hand -3 - off hand -6
without wps and without paired weapon modern: primary hand -6 - off hand -9

sniper (improved)
this skill gives a bonus of +2 to aimed shots with semi-automatik or boltaction rifles. further for every two actions aiming on the same target the character can add another +1 to strike. if the strike, with all bonuses, is 20 or better the the result is a critical strike. (similar to the ma-technique "one life, one shot, one hit, one kill")
